Native American Flute for sale in McCammon, ID
Native American style branch flute, 440hz key of G4/G#4. Made from wild harvested, Idaho native elderberry bushes/trees. Only dead wood is harvested in order to not impact the health of the elderberry and makes harvesting sustainable. A quartz crystal is inlayed in the end of a small branch on the lower end of the flute. Oiled and sealed with naturally derived products, and no added stains so the natural wood grain shows through. Completely handcrafted using only hand tools, similar to the way the Natives would have been making them. The reason I use the elderwood is because it naturally has a foamy center which makes it easy to hollow out and would have been the choice wood for the Natives. Don't get me wrong, flutes made from milled dimensional lumber, using a lathe, router, bandsaw, and all other kinds of modern machinery look and play great but.. should not be considered Native American styled since they were made using machinery and kinds of wood that the Natives were never able to. Because of that I can tell you with certainty that these flutes are some of the closest you can find to the authentic NA style, process and all.
